Call for Directors

The CMBTA AGM is a little more than a month away (Dec 6th) and we are looking for additional members to volunteer to join the board. It would be very beneficial to the organization to have some new faces join. If you are passionate about mountain biking and the local trails, please think about sending a nomination in.

We are looking for three executive roles – President, Vice President, and Secretary.

We will also be looking for Directors-at-Large to support other directors in their roles and provide support at special events. .

With much sadness, we say good-bye to some of our current CMBTA Directors:

Local Event Recap

Sunshine Coast Women's Enduro

On July 17th and August 14th, and September 11th a very successful Sunshine Coast Women's Enduro series took place here on the coast. Congrats to all the riders that raced in the series and we hope to see more of this next year!

For more info on the Sunshine Coast Women's Enduro races check out the webpage at

Brat Enduro

The Brat Enduro was held on September 20th, running from Bricker's Cidery in West Sechelt up through the West Sechelt trail system and looping back down, with prizes for both the fastest male and female riders.

All proceeds from the race were donated to the CMBTA and SCUMB organizations to support continued trail maintenance.

BC Cup 2021 and Backwoods Jam

The Coast Gravity Park hosted their first BC Cup Downhill race, coupling it with the returning Backwoods Jam event over the weekend of September 24th to 26th.

It was a big success and congrats to all those participating in the events, and a big thanks to all the CMBTA (and otherwise) volunteers who helped keep things running smoothly.

Trail Updates

Trail Ambassadors Wanted
The CMBTA is still looking for Trail Ambassadors!

We're still actively looking for Trail Ambassadors, especially in the West Sechelt area!

a CMBTA Trail Ambassador means the following:⠀

- Inspect one or two designated trails every few weeks⠀
- Do light pruning and clear light debris and litter⠀
- Submit reports to advise CMBTA Trail Directors of any heavier maintenance that is needed⠀

There's no set term. Help as long as you'd like to make a difference for our local riders and trails. And remember you don't have to be a mountain biker! We welcome hikers, bikers, or anyone who uses our trail network and would like to give back.⠀

If you'd like to participate, reach out to us at and let us know you'd like to be a Trail Ambassador!

Trail Day Recap: West Sechelt DD, 3D, 4D, Duracell

October 2nd marked our first Trail Day of 2021 sponsored by our friends at TD Bank! This time around the target was the DD, 3D, 4D, and Duracell trail network in West Sechelt. 20+ volunteers came out to dig and drain and give some love to the trails and a great time was had by all. Snacks and refreshments from local businesses were on hand for our working crew and draw prizes were handed out to the lucky winners.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out! You're the reason we have amazing trails here on the Coast! Stay tuned for more CMBTA Trail Days coming up.

Drainage and piling dirt!

planning is a big part of any trail work

Bridge repairs!

Smoothing out rough sections

Lots of muddy sections

Remember folks, go easy on the trails this season when they are wet and flowing with rain! Keep tabs on which trails are draining well, and give trails with poor drainage time to dry out before you ride them. Your local trailbuilders will thank you!

Until next time!
